General

Summer semester classes just started...

Coding

I finally resumed work on stellar-enigma. I made some improvements to objects to facilitate editing, as well as making objects a little more flexible. I also finished implementing basic camera animations. I'm currently working on cleaning them up and making them less janky. Then, I'll add additional animation types. I'm currently working on a better testing map.

I've been working on a project called aster. It's a barebones static site generator for gemini and html. It is very rudimentary at the moment, but I hope to add more features soon.

Books

I just finished reading my first new book in quite some time: Permutation City by Greg Egan. It's a science fiction book about artificial intelligence, cellular automata, and immmortality. If you're into harder scifi, I'd recommend it. I've decided to start reading the Discworld books. I've had them on my reading list for quite some time. Hopefully I can stick with it.

Music

Jim Kirkwood dropped a new album recently, and it's great. (It's over seven and a half hours long). I haven't extensively listened to it yet (due to the length), but I already love it. If you like dungeon synth or electronic music, I would recommend checking it out. (If you don't want to start with such a long album, try some of his other works). Bandcamp link

So, the new echotide album finally released, and it's phenomenal. I might write up a review eventually, but I won't make any promises. If you like post rock, you should consider giving it a listen.

Misc

I started doing Celeste speedrun attempts again. I've lowered my PB by close to three minutes in the past week. (Current PB is 46:07.80). Comparing this PB to my individual level best splits, A sub-45 time is possible. This spring, I got my amateur radio license. I'm still very new to it, but I've had plenty of fun with it already. So far, I've stuck to digital modes, but I'd like to make voice contacts eventually.
